Zotero search in document very slow

I have just started using Zotero and when I try searching within a full text (pdf of books, around 600 pages), it takes at least a minute until I get search results. I did not experience that with the citation software I used before nor with normal pdf viewers. Is there anything I can do to speed up the search process?
