Help finding/creating specific style of citation

I'm sorry if this has already been answered or a style fitting the following description already exists but I wasn't able to find anything.

For my master's degree my university requests a specific kind of citation style:
- Citations must be indicated in-text by a superscript progressive number between parenthesis (x), the numbering starts with every chapter.
- The corresponding citation must be placed in footnote (numbered) and note: (Author in CAPS, Title, Location, Editor/journal, year, page/pages) (Ex. F. FORTUNA, "Corporate Governance", Milano, F.Angeli, 2001, pagg. 16-20)
- The bibliography must follow the same style as the citations, but in alphabetical order by author's surname.
  • What's the name of the university and the institute/department/faculty?
Do you have guidelines that you can link to?
  • The university is "Università Niccoló Cusano", and I'm writing a master's thesis in psychology. The guidelines are only written in the thesis assignation form and are as I reported in the original post.
I'll try and upload a screenshot of the guidelines if it's any help (they're in italian).

  • You can use this tool to find a close match: https://editor.citationstyles.org/searchByExample/
  • Thank you very much, I'll try to take a look even if I'm not finding much, especially for the footnote part and the alphabetical ordered bibliography. For now, the closest match I found is "Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition (full note)", but it needs reordering/reformatting and if possible the parenthesis in the in-line citation number.
I'm trying to edit it in the CSL visual editor but I have some difficulties knowing nothing about this matter
  • Ok, little update.
I've been able to modify the chicago style to fit my formatting needs.
There are 3 things that I still can't seem to get right:
    - I'd like to put the in-text citation number between parenthesis but can't find where it's coded
    - The footnote citations are put on the bottom of the page and not really in the footnote (following image)

    - I'd like to be able to indent the second line of the footnote citation, if possible, like it is in the bibliography

  • For note styles, the footnote numbering is managed by Word. All Zotero does in this case is say "Insert a footnote, plis, I needs to put text there". So, you'd need to change that in Word directly.
  • Thank you very very much, you've been extremely helpful!
I think managed to correctly format everything except the reference number but that's no big deal, I think I'll be able to code a simple macro or something similar to add the parenthesis after everything else.
    Thanks again
  • You can also utilise the Search&Replace functionality of Word for this:
