Problems with tags

Hello, I see eventhough unmarking the "Automatically tag items with keaywords and subject headings" option, Zotero is importing them from PubMed (for instance).
Besides, in the tags manager, when I check or uncheck the "Show automatic" option it does not happen anything. The "Delete automatic tags in this library" is not an option because it is not operative. Too many things, am I doing anything wrong? Thanks!

  • How are you saving these items into your library? Depending on whether you use the connector in the browser, or if you import from a downloaded file (like nbib or RIS), you may get a different treatment of automatic tags.

When possible (i.e. not adding a ton of items at once), saving using the Zotero connector's button on your browser may work best.
  • As I wrote in my first message I am importing from PubMed (with connector). Anyway I should be able to delete the automatic tags, shouldn't I?

(People often add items to their library from Pubmed using Pubmed's nbib downloads, not directly via the connector. Zotero uses the word "import" for that activity. You had not mentioned the connector.)

When I save from Pubmed using the connector, I only get automatic tags: those are with a gray tag icon (instead of blue) under the Tags section in the Item Pane (right-side column). Just to check, can you manually delete any of these *gray* tags (not blue or bold) in the Item Pane by clicking the minus sign to their right when you hover over them?

I assume you see some automatic tags in the Tag Manager when you click on My Library in the Collections pane (the left column in your Zotero window)? Or is this a group library?
  • You are right. Thanks a lot!
