I have no idea how to sync my library with MS Word on my MacBoo Pro

Dear folks, I have been using Zotero since the Fall of 2017. This past June (2024), I had my MacBook Pro laptop serviced, emptied, and "revived." I can see my online Zotero account and open it from my Applications lists, but I cannot sync it with my MS Word. I have read the "sync" instructions but do not understand them. I had an IT person from our university try to assist me, to no avail. Can someone help? Thank you.

Best,

Evelyne
  • Could you say what you don't understand about the instructions? You just have to enter your username and password in the Sync pane of the Zotero settings and click Set Up Syncing.
  • Hi, when I go to settings I only see "Profiles," and other items related to my account, I do not see any "Set Up Syncing." Thank you.

  • You actually need to download and install Zotero, the software.
    See https://www.zotero.org/download
  • But I already have the software installed and have the plug-in on MS Word. But when I try to sync, it fails and tells me that an error has occurred.

  • When I get the "error" notice, I get a second notice noting that "Zotero" would like to access data from other apps, with two options: "Don't allow" and "Allow." I tend to use a very limited number of apps. I only use my laptop to work. Do you have any tips? Thank you.

  • I did not realize that I had not installed the latest Zotero's version. I was able to install it and solve the problem. Thank you.
