Is it possible to convert annotations to individual child notes?

I have a set of annotations made on a mix of PDF and snapshot resources, some of which are tagged or have comments.

Is it possible to convert these to child notes such that each individual annotation becomes an individual child note (no merging) copying over both the comments and the tags (to the note tag field)?

We only realised that annotations don't sync on snapshots recently and unfortunately the annotation->note conversion is to a single note (and the tags can be converted into text but not directly into the field).

Any pointers (I imagine javascript) much appreciated

What do you mean by this? Annotations on snapshots sync like any other annotations. Snapshot/EPUB annotation just isn't yet available in the mobile apps, but it will be soon.
  • Interesting. That's not working for us (I can see they're not there), I'm not sure how to troubleshoot that.
The other question re: annotations->notes is probably still useful because there are addins that only work on notes (I recognise that's outside core product focus though).
  • What's not syncing, exactly?

In general, see Changes Not Syncing.
  • Apologies, I went on leave and it slowed my reply. Checking syncing:
    1. Snapshots are syncing
    2. The annotations on snapshots have not synced
    3. The tags from those annotations have not synced (unsurprising given they're linked to 2).

The settings shouldn't be an issue given the snapshots have synced.
This is across two PCs using Zotero (not web app, or mobile), and trying to access via the sync to the installed app, or via the web app.
  • Just confirming this is still an issue. I realise it's likely to be difficult to address given I can't give any reproducible steps for the problem, but am happy to take advice on how to do that or other debugging options.
