Find full text - some questions

edited November 8, 2024

Find full text works generally speaking quite wonderfully - as it allows me to typically download ~70% of my items from behind my univerity’s vpn. But I still have a few questions:

  • why is it that whenever I rerun it on items without pdf, I typically still manage to harvest a bunch more? And isn’t it possible to have a setting whereby we can rerun it a few times - maybe wih some interval?

  • what is the best way to either ‘sort’ or ‘filter’ files without attachment?

    • when I click on the attachment icon to sort all items like that - it never works correctly. There will still be items with attachments among the items without attachments and vice versa

    • when I try advanced-search, I first of all I have no option to select all items with ANY attachment; and secondly when I search for files whose attachment file type is NOT pdf, I still see loads of files with attachments…

To me, the ideal outcome here would be if the ‘find full text’ option would do this automatically: it would go through the full list; upon completion it would then still try all items without attachments a few more times until it doesnt find anything anymore… Thoughts?

  • Attachment sort doesn't work for me either. Looks like a bug for me.

For filtering, 2 chained saved searches will do

(the exact settings for the searches are crucial)
  • This works! Thanks 'Adam'!

If you're trying a bunch of items at once, you might be getting blocked temporarily by one of the sites.

If you're able to provide a Debug ID for an initial attempt that misses some and another for a successive attempt that succeeds, we can take a look.
