Zotero integration doesn't work

I have a MacBook Air from the year 2012. I know that normally when I download Zotero and open the write program it should be integrated automatically which didn't happen so I tried to do it manually. At first it didn't work at all and then the icons were there in LibreOffice but when I clicked on them nothing happened. I deinstalled and installed Zotero a few times but always had the same issue. I use LibreOffice because the system on my MacBook is too old to download Word. In the extension management in LibreOffice it says that the document (Zotero Libre Office Integration) is empty? Has anyone had the same problem or knows the solution? :(
