Journal Abbreviation is not including (.)

This seems like a problem with only a journal, or what I have noticed so far. When I add an article from Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., it appears without the periods. I have tried adding the ref, using pdf, DOI, or Zotero's web importer with the same result. What could be going wrong?

What citation style are you using?

I’m using ACS style. But the main issue is, on the info panel on the right, in journal abbr section, there are no periods for that particular journal. And I guess that’s why they don’t appear while citing. Ideally, it should appear with a period.

You can just enter it with the dots.

Well, that is the last option I have to go with. There are many refs from the same journal and I was wondering if there is an easier way to go about it. Specially when a friend of mine does this on his Zotero (6, I believe) they appear with a dot. I’m on Zotero 7. Not sure if it is an issue with the latest version or my settings are messed up.

How are you generating citations though? IN most cases, Zotero would create the citations from the journal name, adding periods or not as required by the citation style. The journalAbbr. field only matters if you manuall generate bibliographies from inside Zotero, which I'd expect to be the exception in a file like chemistry.

That said, could you provide a sample URL where that happens?

I usually add my refs using the DOI or zotero web importer (added using DOI using the wand icon in this sample case). Here is how it appears on Zotero.

And the create bibliography from the item with ACS style shows as

Technically it should be automatically abbreviated.

Yeah, so the journal abbreviation is provided by the journal without periods -- adding them back in would be quite tricky, so not much we can do there:

But to re-iterate (also answers your question @damnation): journal abbreviations are automatically generated from the journal name when you're using Zotero's Word add-on to cite. Any reason you're not?
