Zotero Portable version

I used the zotero 7 (64bit, zip) for some time. when I copied the directory with the "%APPDATA% and %LOCALAPPDATA%" to another computer, I can find the plugins in the plugin manager, but without any icon. What's worse, all the plugin settings couldnot be found in the setting page. I think, the portable method of VScode or GoldenDict is perfect. If we make a directory with assigned name, such as profile, content, the settings would located in the assigned dirctory.
  • I'm not sure what you mean by that. The Zotero profile folder contains all Zotero-created settings as well as settings stored by plugins using Zotero's built-in prefs system. If you copy the Profiles folder (from %%APPDATA%% — the %%LOCALAPPDATA% folder is just temporary cache files) in full to another computer, you should have the same settings. Obviously if a plugin is somehow storing settings outside the profile folder, those wouldn't be copied.
  • I am pleasantly surprised to receive your message. I used total uninstall to monitor the install process of the plugins. I can only find the changes of %APPDATA% and %LOCALAPPDATA%.
"you should have the same settings" the settings of the plugins is the same, because after I install the plugin in new computer, all the settings appeared again, including some secret key.
This is the plugin manager after I copied to a new computer

Last time, all the plugins lost the icon in plugin manager or the setting page. This time, the icon and the entry of gpt was kept.
I don't know if it is a bug? or, if you can make the settings in the main directory as the portable vscode?

    Thank you again!

Can you restart Zotero and provide a Report ID after opening Tools → Plugins and seeing plugins without icons?

If you disable and re-enable them, do the icons reappear?

Can you clarify what the issue is in the settings? Are you not seeing settings panes for plugins that you should be seeing?
  • Thank you. Until now I know you are the main contributor of Zotero. I don't know if it was a bug or I miss configure it, so I don't have the report ID.
I tried many times to disable and re-enable plugins, the icons or the entry in setting page didnot reappear.

Yes, your are right. Many plugins should configure the in setting page, just like GPT in the picture I provided. But all the configure entry of the plugins couldnot be found in the setting page (In fact, I tried many times, only the GPT entry exist in this attempt). And I am sure the configures of the plugins were exist because all the configures reappear after I reinstall the plugins.

I think, Maybe, there is something wrong for Zotero to read the configure files.

Thank you again. Your work is great!
