Trouble adding Endnotes to document

When I click on Insert Note in my document, I get a gold dialog box instead of the red one and a "My Library" dialog box that I don't recognize as my bibliography. If I manually enter a citation in the gold box and then check my endnotes, I see the endnote number but only {citation}, not the actual source. The same thing happens when I click on Add/Edit Citation; I get {citation} but no source. Basically Zotero is not allowing me to go to my bibliography and select the source I want. I don't understand what is happening or how to overcome or correct it. Does anyone have any guidance?

You want to use add/edit citation. Add note is for inserting Zotero notes into documents, not for inserting endnotes/footntoes.

Once you see the red add/edit citation window, can you select a citation in that Window? If not, what exactly happens (a screenshot might help)

Thank you for replying. I am not getting the red window. I'm getting a yellow-gold one and a My Library list that I don't recognize. How do I make it go to My actual Library?
I have a screenshot but it isn't loading here.

OK, it worked. All I was seeing was a URL.
See the gold window?
And none of this list is My Library.

These are Notes in your library. Exit that dialog using the Esc Key. The. Press add/edit citation to get the red window
