Bug when deleting a Note

edited October 29, 2024
I have a Note that I identified that, for some reason, appeared duplicated (as a standalone Note and as a child of an item). It was exactly the same Note (same content and creation date), so I decided to delete the one that appeared standalone, without touching the other one that was linked to an Item (journal article).

When I did it, I realized that the standalone Note disappeared, but also the other one that was “child” of the article. Then I entered the Bin to recover the deleted Note, and a warning appears that there are “5 objects in this view”, but there are no items inside the Bin. From that moment on, all the Collections, the root Library as well as *all* Group Libraries, appear as empty and, in the right panel, the same warning of “5 objects in this view”.

If I restart the app, the content of the Library is displayed normally, as long as I do not enter the Bin.

I have not wanted to synchronize in order to recover this Note, but I don't know how to do it without complicating things.

Any help, please?

Windows 11, Zotero 7.0.9-beta.4
  • Can you provide a Debug ID for clicking on the Bin?
  • And this new one after updated to beta.5... just in case you need it:

@dstillman I was “playing” a bit, to see if I could solve the problem.

It seems to be related with a plugin (Zotero Annotations Count). If I disable it and restart Zotero, then it is possible to enter the Bin. It appears as follows:

However, I understand that the origin may be related to that Note created in June 2022, which, as I explained before, appears duplicated (Standalone and as child Note). But it is the same Note. I deleted only one of them, and both are in the Bin. Perhaps, the origin was a bug of the program at that time... I don't know!

To solve this problem and to be able to work, I am deleting that(these) Note(s). I have already extracted the included comments, and I will generate another new note.

    Thank you!
