Single paper citation very slow, multiple paper citation fast
I'm on a Macbook Pro M1 with macOS Sequoia 15.0.1.
I'm working on my thesis at the moment and the document is very long with lots of citations, so I would expect things to be a little slower. But I have this curious thing happening where inserting a single paper as a citation in Word takes more than 1 min but inserting a citation with 5+ papers takes just a few seconds. I would've thought it to be the opposite. Anyone knows what's going on here and if there is a way to decrease the time it takes to insert citations?

Zotero has to retrieve all fields from the document in order to insert a citation, which it starts doing when the citation dialog is opened. When you insert a single citation, you're done quicker, so it hasn't finished retrieving fields. When you insert multiple citations, it takes you longer, so it's had more time to finish.
Mac Word integration is unfortunately just pretty slow right now with very large documents. We're working with Microsoft on some changes that will let us create a much faster version.
For now, the best thing you can do is to make sure "Automatically update citations" is disabled in the plugin's Document Preferences. You can also break up the document into smaller sections and combine them at the end.
