[7.0.9-beta.2] Cannot navigate annotations selected in the reader pane by arrow keys

Hi all,
I think one of recent updates must have introduced the following behaviour that seems a bit inconsistent to me. When selecting an annotation in the annotation pane and then using the down-/up arrow keys, I can jump between annotations. When selecting the annotation in the reader pane, however, the arrow keys just scroll the page instead of navigating to the next annotation. I would prefer if both ways of selecting an annotation worked the same (as I think they did previously)

  • Yes, that was intentional. To navigate annotations as a list, you need to select one from the annotation list in the sidebar. However, in document view, it’s now possible to select any annotation or link in the text by pressing TAB and using the arrow keys for 2-dimensional navigation.

I see - I have to admit I prefer the old behaviour; when switching into a tab with an annotation selected it's not possibly to visually discern whether it was selected from the reader or annotation pane and to thus decide which key to use.

Selecting an annotation in the reader pane and pressing tab just switches focus into the notes pane, which will then capture the arrow key presses, and doesn't navigate annotations for me.

Edit: While not having an annotation selected and with the focus in the reader pane, TAB does select an annotation and I can navigate between two annotations on the same page - the view doesn't scroll to next annotation in the document however.

If the annotation is selected you have to press Escape before that. In other cases just focusing document view and pressing TAB should focus the first currently visible annotation/link.
  • Ah, I figured it out, sorry, but my edit was apparently too late: I can do this, but can then only navigate visible annotations. With only one visible annotation, the arrow keys appear to do nothing.
