PDF vs Epub

I see how v 7 now incorporates the ability to use epub instead of PDF's. I've always used PDF, are there advantages over one or the other? Is the epub format better or are there features that make this superior to PDF's?

Most importantly for most users, epubs allow you to change the font size and reflow text so that you can read without scrolling (or squinting) on any screen size. That's particularly important on ebook readers.that don't scroll well, but also relevant for phones or users that want larger font for accessibility (where PDFs have a host of other issues, too)
