ZoteroBib: "An error occurred while citing this source"

We use to get this message intermittently when using ZoteroBib (Chrome) but now we seem to get it more often than not (searching on ISBNs, DOIs and titles). If you keep clicking the Cite button it eventually retrieves the citation. Is there a reason for this and is there a fix?
