style replacement in repository

I am working at the European Commission, and I am finalizing the development of the European Union's official citation style in its various formats. I would like to know if, instead of simply sharing the style in the repository, it would be possible to replace the current unofficial ones in the repository:
https://www.zotero.org/styles/european-union-interinstitutional-style-guide-author-date
https://www.zotero.org/styles/european-union-interinstitutional-style-guide

I looked, but I couldn't find the contact details of the respective authors.
Thanks in advance.
  • You can share your new styles by editing them on the CSL repository. See 3b: https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md

I also have to say, the styles were made by adamsmith, one of the very long-term maintainers of the CSL repository, CSL specialists and somebody extremely supportive and active here in the forum. I think some gratitude is in place that this was actually provided to your authors rather than just sidelining it as something "unofficial". Quite some work goes into making a single style.
  • Please don't get me wrong, I am in no way diminishing the work done!

At the time, the rules available in the official guide were extremely limited. It would be difficult to do better with what was available. I know perfectly well the effort required in this type of task. We appreciate the work done by the authors, however, the EU style rules have changed a lot.

The replacement request is, in fact, an acknowledgment of the usefulness of the work done. If they weren't used, there would be no problem just adding new files. The idea is just not to cause users doubts about the updated versions.

I apologize, once again, for any misunderstandings.
  • No problem. Thanks for explaining your point.
Let us know if you need a hand with the style submission or have specific questions regarding the actual CSL. Happy to help. :)
