Zotero android cannot use webdav

edited October 10, 2024
While I change the sync way to webdav, input the correct username and password (I checked them on my another phone, it's ok)
I click the Verify Server, the app warned to me:
Https error: trust anchor for certification path not found

I changed the https to http, the app warned:
Due to Android restrictions, HTTP can only be used when connecting to a .local hostname
  • Thank you for your reply, I will try the first way this night
  • R3 cert is not found
I installed x1 but still failed
By the way, the device is android9
  • Yesterday I installed the correct certificate file for my WebDAV provider — I obtained the file from the Windows browser, but the error persists. I will try to add an option in the Android source code to skip the certificate check.
  • Please post your results from source code option, Hemmingway, and thanks!
  • I too installed the ssl certificate to my android and it did not solve the issue. But looking at the app logs, it seems that I'm hitting at least a timeout error. On the nextcloud side when perusing at the logs I see those two that might be relevant: `webdav Encryption (symmetric) of content failed` and `ServiceUnavailable Encryption not ready: Encryption (symmetric) of content failed`.

Note that the desktop version works perfectly with the exact same configuration. I also tried changing the network my android phone is on, to no avail (even the same as the laptop).
  • Yup. No help coming it seems. Went back to Zoo for Zotero and external PDF annotator. Works fine.
  • Is there a way to increase the timeout delay on the zotero client? It might be as stupid as that!
  • I tested using another webdav server of mine: the hetzner storage box. It worked flawlessly.

I don't see anything relevant in the nextcloud logs regarding webdav that could explain the issue but it would be terrific if we could use it! Maybe another option could be to allow using davx5 (available on fdroid) 's webdav mount feature?
