Citation formatting issue for particular journal styles

I'm currently using the Zotero Googledoc integration, which has been typically working awesome. This morning I refreshed my bibliography in the citation style of the journal that we plan to submit a scientific paper to (journal is Genetics). This refresh completely screwed up the citation style. I deleted and re-added the journal to the Cite Style Manager (the preview format looked correct). But this failed to sort the issue. I also tried to format the references using the style of a sister journal that should have the same citation style (journal is G3). This also failed. It's not an issue with all citation styles, as the Development journal citation style still works. Any thoughts on how to fix the issue?

You'd have to say more — you don't actually say what the problem is. You can include a screenshot to show exactly what the issue is.

Right, of course. Here's a screenshot of what the references should look like (I had exported a word copy just before refreshing the references in googledocs)

And here's what the Zotero formatting in google docs turned the references into when I set them as Genetics or G3 journal formatting

The exported citation style in word is what it should be. If I try a different journal citation style (Development journal) things are fine.

So the issue is spacing and indentation, not the content of the citations, correct? And switching to the Development style and back doesn't fix it?

Correct. The content of the citations is correct, it's the spacing, indentations and bolding. The italics (which I manually added and coding to the titles in Zotero) is still correct. If I delete and re-add the Genetics citation style, the preview looks correct

However when I format the references in googledocs the style is wrong. And switching to Development style and back doesn't fix things.

Well, the Genetics style doesn't have indentation or bolding (as you can see in the preview) so it's really just the space between bibliography entries that's missing, and it looks like that's missing in Development, too (compare your output to the preview).

Let me see if I can replicate this. I don't think the style changed in relevant ways.

I circled back to this issue. It looks like The Genetics style updated to get rid of the indent, but there should be a space. If I use the setting with a microsoft word doc, things look correct and I get a space between refs. If I do it in googledocs the space is missing.

Yeah, so just to confirm -- Zotero just doesn't do lines between bibliography entries in Google Docs. I don't know why not exactly, though styling in Google docs is more limited than in Word or LibreOffice, so it could be a limitation there. @adomasven is that a known issue?
