FIX: Runtime Error 5 trying to cite in Word for Mac using Zotero
Hi,
I had an issue where I encountered runtime error 5 when trying to cite with Zotero (or use Zotero in word in any way), I get a dialogue that says Runtime Error 5: Invalid procedur call or argument (please see attached screenshot).
I had tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Zotero and the Word plugin by manually removing the .dotm file from the Word startup folder. I had restarted everything several times, ensured that all programs and the OS has the latest updates, but still no change.
THEN, I came across the thread below which recommended deleting audio plugins from ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components, and doing this fixed the issue immediately. In my case, it was Omnisphere.component.

Wanted to write this here in case anyone else has similar issues, and to notify the developers that this seems to be a persistant issue (and it would be nice if I could have kept the audio plugin and still use Zotero).
Hope this helps and thanks for a great application!
Versions:
Zotero: 7.06 (latest update)
Word for Mac: 16.89.1 (latest update)
MacOS: 12.7.6 (latest update)
