Automatically attaching notes
Hi all,
in my Zotero settings I have the setting "Automatically attach PDFs and other files while saving" activated and find that to be very practical.
However, sometimes Zotero also attaches notes when adding items, often when adding books via the magic wand. For example, when adding an item with the ISBN 9783407291127, it attaches the Tabe of Contents PDF (which might be useufl) but also adds a note that just has the content "Literaturangaben", which of course it not useful at all.
The connector also sometimes adds notes, for example when adding from my university's catalogue; when importing from https://katalog.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/titel/65840775, a note is automatically attached containing the text "Lizenausg. Beltz-Verl., Weinheim, Basel". As this contains bibliographic information, I feel it should be added to the "Extra"-Field if it needs to be added at all.
It might be just my preferences or some sampling bias, but so far I've not had a single note attached that I didn't delete immediately afterwards. I would thus suggest reconsidering whether and when notes are attached to entries or at least offering a setting to disable this (if there is one and I've not found it, I'd be grateful for pointers).
Thank you!

dstillmanedited 9 days ago@adamsmith has a better sense of the kind of data that can be in the library-catalog fields that end up in notes, so I'll let him comment on that. I know it came up in this thread and probably others.
