Hello Zotero-Community

I have four short questions regarding my csl-code:

-my first question:
I got two documents from the European Commission from the same year. I use notes for citing, so I am fine with 2009a and 2009b. However I also insert the "issued-variable" into my bibliography in full: and Zotero writes 13.03.2009a and 24.07.2009b. Is there any way to disable the disambiguation just for the full date? I am fine with the 2009a and 2009b at the beginning of the bibliography, when it just shows the year. Take a look to see what I mean:

Europäische Kommission (2009a) Impact Assessment accompanying the Commission Recommendation complementing Recommendations 2004/913/EC and 2005/162/EC as regards the regime for the remuneration of directors of listed companies and the Commission Recommendation on remuneration policies in the financial services sector, Commission Staff Working Document SEC(2009) 580. Fassung: 30.04.2009a. http://ec.europa.eu/internal_market/company/directors-remun/index_en.htm [12.11.2009]

Europäische Kommission (2009b) Impact Assessment accompanying document to the proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Capital Requirements Directive on trading book, securitization issues and remuneration policies, Commission Staff Working Document SEC(2009) 974 final. Fassung: 13.07.2009b. http://ec.europa.eu/internal_market/company/directors-remun/index_en.htm [12.11.2009]

-my second question: I do not know the reason: I have article-journal with an URL. I want the journals to be displayed with the URL in the bibliography. But as soon as I enter any value for the "variable page" it does not show any URL. I pasted the csl, if it helps.

-my third question: is there any way to tell Zotero to use a blank that does not break: For example I want to write the Acces date like this: [Accessed: 23.04.2009]. But I want to omit that by any chance it looks later on in the bibliography like this:
[Accessed:
23.04.2009]

-my fourth and last question: I would like to sort my bibliography alphabetically, which works perfectly right now. However, I want all the Zotero-items=bill to show up at the end of the bibliography: e.g. first all the books, journal-articles, mixed and sorted by author alphabetically .and then following all the bills sorted alphabetically. Is there a way to do so?

Thank you for your help.

  • In answer your fourth question, it is not currently possible to divide a bibliography into discretionary sections in this way. A partial workaround might be to separate the two types of material into collections within Zotero, export the rendered bibliography for each, and paste it into the document as text.

    Looking forward, while it's not an immediate solution, the new CSL processor that has been developed for Zotero does permit selective bibliography output. Access to this facility will depend on support in the Zotero UI, to set the conditions for multiple bibliography blocks in the document. If implemented, no change to the bibliography style file would be needed; bibliography sections and their content would be set on a per-document basis, and it should work for all similar use cases.
  • Anyone got any idea about my questions?
  • Re your first question, there is currently no way to suppress the year suffix as far as I know. The new processor is currently stubborn in the same way, but I'll fix it. So again, no immediate solution, but this should work for you when CSL 1.0 support comes on stream. Thanks for the sample cites: I'll use these for test data.
  • Re your third question, I'm not 100% sure it will work in the current processor, but you should be able to get a non-breaking space by using a numeric entity in the prefix, suffix, or delimiter attributes. Something like this:<group delimiter=" ">
    <text term="accessed">
    <date variable="issued">
    <date-part name="year"/>
    <date-part name="month" prefix="."/>
    <date-part name="day" prefix="."/>
    </date>
    </group>

    Re your second question, there's an option for this under the gear menu -> Preferences -> Styles. Tick the box, and you should get URLs unconditionally.
  • wow, thx a bunch fbennett, I'll try out your hints. Thank you again!
