Searching by tag within a given collection

Hi, I'm new to Zotero (very excited about it too, what a great tool!!!). I just tested the tags feature and there is something I find strange.

I used the following tree structure for collections:
Library > Test > Subtest

I have some items inside the "Subtest" sub-collection that have tag1.

If I search for tag1 in "Subtest", the relevant items appear.
If I search for tag1 in my Library, the relevant items appear as well.
So far, so good.
But if I search for tag1 in "Test", nothing appears. I would have expected and hoped that the items present inside "Subtest" and tagged with tag1 would appear.

Is that behavior normal, or am I doing something wrong/missing something?

Thank you in advance for your help!

What you are seeing is the default behaviour.

    My Library contains all items.

But items in sub-Collections do not also belong to their parent Collection(s), unless you actually place them there ... which is a perfectly logical thing to do, but not something that everyone would want.

You can however cause all items in subcollections to be *displayed* in their parent Collections even if they do not exist there, by setting View\Show Items From Subcollections to ON. Some people see that as a logical thing to do, some people don't. If you do that, items in sub-Collections will be returned when searching for their tag in parent Collections.
