RECOGNITION OF SPECIAL CHARACTERS IN SPANISH

When highlighting text from Spanish publications in PDF format, the text automatically extracted in Zotero notes does not recognize special characters in Spanish, such as accented vowels (á) or ñ.

I have been reviewing the documentation extensively, I have configured Zotero for Spanish, but the problem persists.

I attach an imago to show the problem.

Is there a way to solve this problem?

I appreciate your support in advance.

  • Typically, when this happens, it indicates an issue with the PDF file. Could you check with another PDF viewer to see if copying the same text results in the accent being separated from the letter?
  • Thanks for your response martynas_b.

I have opened the same example file with my system's PDF program and the same problem occurs. The extraction of highlighted text in Spanish documents does not recognize the accents or the ñ.
Maybe it is an operating system configuration problem?
I use Windows 11 and it is up to date.
    Any guidance?
  • No, it's an issue with the software that generated the PDF file. We hope that in future versions of Zotero, we'll implement a workaround to automatically recombine the accent with the letter.
  • Ok. Thanks.
    I hope it occurs soon.
