I just added a new SSD to my laptop. now my windows run on the ssd while my previous hardrive (my Zotero stuff) is attached to the computer as an external drive. somehow my library is intact but my pdf's are not loading up. i get a msg to locate the pdf. How I can sync my pdfs. My cloud space was already full. hope I could able to explain my problem as I am not a tech. savvy guy.

1) You had your Zotero data on the HDD as C:.
2) You were using Zotero syncing, but you were at your 300 MB storage quota, so additional files weren't being uploaded.
3) The SSD became C:, and your HDD became D: (or whatever). When you started up Zotero again, it looked for its data directory in the default location — C:\Users\[username]\Zotero — which was now an empty folder, so you would've had an empty library.
4) You set up syncing again and downloaded your data from the online library. That would show all your data, but only 300 MB of files would be available, because the rest weren't ever uploaded. They're sitting on your external drive. You should be able to find it in D:\Users\[username]\Zotero, and the 'storage' folder should be bigger than 300 MB.
So you just need to either point Zotero at your original data directory (D:\Users\[username]\Zotero or whatever) from the Advanced → Files and Folders section of the Zotero settings or, assuming you have space on the SSD, move the current Zotero data directory out of the way and move the one from your HDD into the default location so that when Zotero starts up, it's using that data directory. You can then delete the new one you moved out of the way.
