Problem exporting my zotero library to Excel

Hi, I would like to export a library to Excel, but when I do it, it doesn't look as "clean" as when my colleagues do it. It exports data that is very difficult to read (ref. screenshot below). Can someone help me solve this problem? Thank you. :)

  • Bonjour, Je rencontre le même problème. Avez-vous obtenu une réponse?
    Merci :)
  • Bonjour, j'ai trouvé cette vidéo qui explique comment faire des virgules le signe de séparer en colonnes les données :

    Bon courage!
  • For those who don't want to watch, the option described is to use File --> Open in Excel and then select delimited file and comma as the delimiter.

An alternative is to use Data -> Import --> Text in Excel

Excel should open CSV files and separate the columns automatically *except* in some regions (eg parts of Europe) where the comma is used as the decimal separator, eg 10,5 instead of 10.5.

You can change default delimiters in Excel's advanced options (or in your OS's system options), but it may have unwanted side effects elsewhere. So the above manual import processes may be the easier option.
  • Note that in the Zotero export, many (most? all?) values are surrounded by quotes, which should protect the commas that are actually part of the field and not separators.
