"Sentence case" on a title fails for text before a colon

If I do a "Sentence case" on the title "DIRECT NUMERICAL SIMULATION: A Tool in Turbulence Research", it returns: "DIRECT NUMERICAL SIMULATION: a tool in turbulence research". All the text before the colon is ignored.

  • Addition: Title Case works as expected.
  • I think the situation is that the title is a mix of all-caps and title case, so the heuristic is assuming that the all-caps words are abbreviations.

For example, in “A brief history of UNESCO”, the last word should be left unchanged.
  • Thank you. So the colon is not relevant here, as it does the same without it.
So any title with mixed case will fail, and will need to be changed manually or with an online tool.

To be consistent, should it do the same for "Title Case", so that changing between "Title Case" and "Sentence case" can be reversible?
On your example, doing a "Title Case" returns "A Brief History of Unesco".

This online tool seems to recognize proper nouns:
