Reference number back to number 1

Hi i have changed my laptop but synced the zotero from the old laptop to the new one. However when i try to add a new citation using the new laptop to the previous document( word) which was edited in the old laptop, the reference number goes back to number one despite refreshing the document many times. PLease help on how to rearrange back the reference numbering
