Is there a way to create a Chicago style note of a work quoted in another work? I don't see any place under the info tab and haven't been able to find any information in the forums or documentation.
Versa, do you manually delete the period in the first citation, type "quoted in" and then insert the second citation? The reason I ask is I believe the citation won't update if it has been manually edited, which isn't that big of a deal. Maybe a future version will have a quoted in feature since it happens fairly commonly.
In the "Add/Edit Citation" window of the plugin there is an option for multiple sources. Click that, add your two references, then use the prefix slot to put "quoted in". Using prefix/suffixes does not break the refresh.
(As a side note, the new CSL processor coming up in a few months will recognize in-field markup in the prefix and suffix fields, so you'll be able to put the connecting phrase in italics if your style requires that.)
Does that give you what you want?
