Upgrade StorageHow to remove local files after enabling the to "download as needed" sync

I have been using sync ever since I started building my library. Unfortunately, after a Phd thesis worth of files my computer I longing for disk space. I upgraded my Zotero online library storage a while a go and everything has been synced, I can access full text files on my computer and in the online library.
Is there a way to now get rid of all my local files while making sure everything stays in the online library (so I can still download single files as needed)? I am working on a Mac book air (circa 2020).
