Updating incomplete references in a Word file created by others
I need to update incomplete Zotero references in a Word file created by another person. Right now the auto-date references are coming through with title-date, presumably because the Zotero entry does not have the author correctly specified.
Is there a way to do this efficiently -- that is, somehow letting me use my Zotero and Word clients to edit the references. The only way I can think of right now is to re-find the reference, put it in my Zotero library, link the new record and delete the old. But this isn't too efficient.
Any assistance most appreciated.

dstillmanedited September 6, 2024We're working on a way to extract/edit the metadata for existing Zotero citations created by others, but for now you'd have to use Reference Extractor, import the items into your library, and replace each citation, being sure to select from the My Library section of the citation dialog search results instead of the Cited section.
