Problems when adding citations to document in Google Docs

Yesterday I updated my app, today I uninstalled and reinstalled the chrome extension (using my app). When I click the Z on the tool bar (to add/edit a citation), a red rimmed oblong box appears where you can type the author name or title of the item you want to cite. That pops up and then disappears from the bottom up to the halfway point. If you right click, you can select maximize and then it lasts for a couple seconds and disappears again. I've gotten fast so I can sometimes get the info in and select the item I want to cite before it disappears completely, but now it just doesn't respond at all when I click on the z or on the "zotero" --> add/edit citation from the headings. Can anyone explain what might be the problem? It stopped responding at all very suddenly.

Restart Zotero and your browser, then submit a Debug ID for an attempt to insert a citation. The citation dialog (the red box) should definitely not disappear automatically unless you press Escape or Enter.
