Journal editors are listed as authors in addition to authors in word document.

When I've tried to insert a reference into a Microsoft word document, the in-text citation is fine, but the bibliography list is including all journal editors in the citation, as if they are authors. Is there any way to fix this, or is this due to corrupt citation files?

We'd need to know which style to be sure, but yes, most likely the problem is metadata (Ovid databases.if I had to guess)

Oh thank you, I thought so. The citation style is a custom one programmed by my company, but it definitely distinguishes between authors/editors under normal circumstances. i.e. same thing happens if I use a standard style such as Vancouver or APA
