Cannot save web page that contains its own doi source citations, AS a web page

I have updated chrome and the extension and the desktop app.

Now (and, just before the update, but not a few weeks ago) when the page I want to cite has content that cites its own sources using doi identifiers, Zotero will ONLY offer me the page's sources and not the web page itself.

When I click the Zotero icon there is no choice to save it as a web page. It just opens the "Zotero Item Selector" dialog that lists all the doi sources cited by the page.

I need to cite the page, NOT its sources.

I think this is a newly introduced defect in the chrome plugin.

See e.g. https://isogg.org/wiki/Autosomal_DNA_statistics
  • right-click on the Save to ZOtero icon and choose Save as Webpage
  • And to be clear, this isn't new in any way — when there's no other metadata available for the page, the DOI translator always takes precedence. But in a future update, we'll be changing it to always offer basic saving of the current page at the top of the list even if only DOIs are available.
  • Right click on the Save to Zotero icon was not doing that. It was bringing up a browser context menu.

I tried it like six times.

I uninstalled the plugin and reinstalled it.

It still would not do that.

Now I try again, and it does what it should.

    Sigh.

    Thanks.
