Can I revert to zotero 1.0?

Firefox had an update which I just installed. Afterwards, it said I needed to update to the new zotero, and the new zotero macword plugin, which I did. But now I can't get to my citations from word because I have MS Word from 2001. What can i do?!!
I didn't back up my zotero files (stupidly). Is there any way to get my Zotero 2 files back into Zotero 1 format (please please please!). Someone above mentioned exporting the files... how do I do this?
  • Without a backup of your data directory, you can revert to your Zotero 1.0 database, but any attached files will be orphaned.

  • If you want to do this, see "Recovering your library from the last automatic backup" on that page, but substitute zotero.sqlite.36.bak, which is the automatic pre-upgrade backup of your database, for zotero.sqlite.bak.
  • Hi Dan, thanks for your help... I feel ridiculous asking this, but where are my zotero preferences? In the "Recovering your library" it says "Show Data Directory” in the Advanced pane of the Zotero prefs" but I am not sure where this is?
    Thanks again.

    edit: I added that link to the page, too.
  • Ok, I figured that out... I followed the instructions and it didn't seem to work.... maybe this is because I was working with Zotero 2.0 while making the changes and then after changing the zotero.sqlite I switched to version 1.0? Do I need to install Zotero 1.0 before I do all those things?
    Here's exactly what I did;
    After I changed the zotero.sqlite.36.bak to zotero.sqlite I reponed firefox. It said that big changes had been made becasue I was installing a new version of Zotero. I hit ok and it seemed to import my old references, but still into the new Zotero 2.0 version. So then I reinstalled 1.0 but now there is an exclamation point over the Zotero logo. What did I do wrong?

    Thanks!
  • You need to revert to Zotero 1.0 and then replace zotero.sqlite with zotero.sqlite.36.bak. Otherwise you'll just re-upgrade your database.
  • Got it working! Thank you so much for all your help! :)
