Sync with icloud WebDAV?

icloud offers a "webtop" or web-based desktop/os that includes 3 GB storage with their free package: http://icloud.com/en/features/packages
It's supposedly WebDAV accessible with help from a downloaded app: http://icloud.com/en/webdav
But I haven't been able to get it to work as storage for Zotero sync.
Has anyone else tried using icloud?

    Hello,
I'm starting to use it and it works for me.
I guess the problem could be when you set the server because you have to include your user name and the name of the drive (in my case "xios")* within the URL like this: https://webdav.icloud.com/username/drivename
Now the files are synchronized with the server (up to 3 Gbs).

    ;-)

    * You can check that if you connect through your operating system first. Then you can create a "zotero" folder as I did
  • After few days I have to report that icloud's WebDAV service doesn't work properly.
So I'll continue looking for an other free WebDAV service.
  • I can report that MyDrive.ch is working fine for me, and many other Zotero users have been happy with it as well. There's a thread somewhere explaining how to set it up-- take a look.
  • Thanks, I'll tray but I'm afraid that I need more than 2Gb of storage :-/
  • Well, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Zotero's zipping of stored files cut my storage needs from 1.5 GB to a tidy 900 MB, although I've been careful to avoid particularly large files like audio and video in my libraries.

MyDrive.ch does have paid storage up to 1 TB, and at the 2-10 GB range it seems rather reasonably priced. If you find a good new option for larger collections, please share your findings.
  • You are right, I've check and all my collections at icloud is not more than 1,8 Gb (zipped) so I'll try and if I'll find something better I'll post it. Cheers
  • As this is now almost 12 years old, I’d like to ask what you ended up using/ are using currently? I’m looking for a solution and would like to use my iCloud storage for Zotero files, so I stumbled upon this thread.
    Any steer would be appreciated!
  • iCloud doesn’t support WebDAV so that’s not possible.

There are numerous cloud services that do support WebDAV https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/webdav_services

Currently I use NextCloud. It allows WebDAV connections:
    https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/20/user_manual/en/files/access_webdav.html
You could find several providers in the nextcloud page:
    https://nextcloud.com/signup/
Some get you up to 5GB for free.
    Cheers
