Could not find a running Word instance

I want to cite an article, and after clicking Add/Edit Citation in the zotero option of WORD it says: Could not find a running Word instance

  • I used the compatibility mode afterward according to the prompts and it works fine, but what does it mean "Be sure to disable compatibility mode afterward, as it can result in lower performance and security vulnerabilities." When should I turn off compatibility mode?
  • You should try turning it off now. The reports we've received have said that just running Zotero once while in compatibility mode has fixed this.

When you followed the steps on the linked page, was UAC off? If so, do you know why? Did you turn it off manually, or install some utility that did so, or install Windows via some custom method that disabled it? We're trying to figure out why some people are seeing this.
  • Thanks, I have turned it off and the software can run normally. As for the UAC, the default state of my computer is "Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer (do not dim my desktop)".

OK, great. Just to be clear, you're saying that just running once in compatibility mode and then turning compatibility mode off worked for you as well?

Re: UAC, are you saying that, when you went to check, UAC was already set to "Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer"? It wasn't turned off?
