Zotero Connector (Opera) no longer able to correctly scrape Amazon (Report ID: 602597301)
Report ID: 602597301
I am no longer able to correctly scrape book metadata from stores like Amazon.com. I have updated to Zotero 7.0 but the error persists. This seems to affect only the Opera extension, and only on some sites. Saving to Zotero still works in Chrome.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the following URL in Opera: https://www.amazon.nl/Routledge-Handbook-Ecomedia-Studies/dp/103200942X?tag=operapc-def-sp-co2-nl-21#customerReviews
2. The extension correctly recognizes that this is a book and shows a book icon.
3. Save to Zotero
4. Zotero Connector displays the following: "An error occurred saving with Amazon. Attempting to save using Save as Webpage instead."
The data then indeed gets scraped as a webpage instead of a book. Performing the same steps in Chrome correctly saves the item as a book, but I don't use Chrome as my browser and would prefer for this to work in Opera, as it always has.
Scraping from other sites like Google Books, Springer etc. seems to work normally.
Opera version: 112.0.5197.53 (= Chromium 126.0.6478.226)
Windows 11 64-bit
Zotero 7.0

To me, this suggests that questions involving Opera might receive answers here.
I'm using Firefox, and my connector doesn't recognize the amazon.nl page as a book. The equivalent amazon.com page yields a correct book item (well, as correct as Amazon can be ;-) ).
(Honestly, though, I wouldn't recommend anyone use Opera at this point. They apparently hired some scammy SEO company that contacted us recently ("Thanks For Mentioning Opera") trying to get us to add a backlink to an April Fools blog post from 2009 that mentioned Opera as a joke. This is not the behavior of a company that should be trusted for one's browser.)
