Importing Bibliography from PDFs Directly into Zotero Library

Hello everyone,

I often work with PDFs that include extensive bibliographies at the end, and I’m looking for a way to import these references directly from Zotero into my Zotero library. So far, I haven’t found a method to do this without manually entering each reference using the magic wand tool, which is quite time-consuming.

I've searched through the available functions and add-ons but couldn't find anything that suits this need. Is there a feature or an add-on that allows for this? If not, does anyone have any tips or workarounds to make this process more efficient?

    The zotero-reference plugin does that. Either by text-parsing the paper's reference list directly, or API lookup at Crossref (for journal papers deposited there). It puts the list in a new References pane, and checks by DOI for which references are already in your library (and can take you the article web page for those it doesn't find). As text parsing can never be 100% perfect, and journal publishers have only started providing their papers' reference lists to repositories like Crossref in recent years, the References list is not always 100% accurate (if one method is not perfect, you can try the other).
