Zotero item/PDF links not working when Zotero 7 is running in the background
Since I updated to version 7 I am having an issue when opening Zotero links from other note-taking software.
So when I copy-paste highlighted text from the PDFs I get the text in quotation marks, followed by the reference (author, date, page), along with links to both the corresponding item (zotero://select/library/items/) and PDF (zotero://open-pdf/library/items/) in markdown format.
With Zotero 6, when I clicked those links they worked as expected: if the program isn't in the background, it gets launched and the corresponding item or PDF gets shown; if the program is already open in the background, it gets brought to the foreground showing the corresponding item or PDF.
With Zotero 7, however, if the program is already open then clicking those links brings up the following warning message instead: "Zotero is already running, but is not responding. To use Zotero, you must first close the existing Zotero process, restart your device, or use a different profile."
Is this a known issue? Is there a way to fix this? I'm running the Flatpak version of the app on Linux Mint 21.3 if that helps.

Anyway the zotero links work fine for me now. I installed the .deb-version from https://github.com/retorquere/zotero-deb and deinstalled the flatpak version.
wow that solved the issue for me, thanks, how did you find this solution, crazy :))
