Roman numerals when referencing

I'm trying to write a paper in word and I keep having my references formatted like this. I changed the setting in word for footnotes to be numerals, but it still is not working. Any tips on how I can get this to work? I do NOT want my references formatted like this... I would like a standard full reference at the end of the doc and either an author/date OR numerals for in-text.

Any tips?
