Firefox zotero extension icon on toolbar

I just installed the extention on my Firefox browser on Mac. I believe there should be a Zotero icon on the task bar, however it does not appear. Instead there is a puzzle piece. When clicking on it it give me choice for other extensions. I have a choice of "running" the zotero extension.
How do I get the distinct zotero icon on the toolbar

    Did you get this to work? I have the same setup, followed the suggested support advice (link from poettli), but am still stuck.

    I just installed Zotero 7.0.11 on my Macbook pro (Big Sur 11.7.10) with Firefox 133.0.3 and no icon whatever I try. My Zotero application itself seems to have no issue (and it remembered my library from probably 5+ years ago). To install the connector, I used the link in Zotero. The extension shows up in Firefox, but unlike other extensions, when I enable / disable there is no icon that shows up / hides.

    Some things I've tried
    - Disable all other Firefox extensions
    - Restart both Firefox and Zotero (in both orders)
    - "Cleaned" my Firefox profile (and then reinstall connector)

    Any / all clues appreciated

    @ryantkoehler: Can you share screenshots (either here or in an email to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread) of the things you're looking at?

    @ryantkoehler: Your screenshots don't show the open Extensions menu.

    Thanks for looking into this. The last three pictures in the pdf show this, with Zotero on/off. Here's the current view

    From the troubleshooting page linked above:
    If the button doesn't appear to the right of the address bar, you can find it either in the Extensions panel (opened via a puzzle-piece button to the right of other toolbar buttons) or the overflow menu (opened via a “»” button to the right of your other toolbar buttons). If the button appears in the Extensions panel, click the gear icon and select Pin to Toolbar to keep it in the toolbar.
