Zotero does not recognize stored PDF as a PDF--does not load proper viewer

I suddenly can no longer view stored copies of PDFs within Zotero by double-clicking on them. Instead, I see text (%PDF, etc.). It's acting as though Zotero is sending the wrong MIME type to Firefox. I did do a Windows update before this happened, but I suspect that's not the problem. However, I don't know of anything else that's changed, other than that update.

I've double-checked (and changed around) the assignments in Firefox for opening different types of PDF files, and verified that that is not the problem--I can open PDFs on web pages in Firefox outside of Zotero with no problem. I've also repaired my Adobe Reader installation and confirmed that I'm using the most up-to-date version.

I'm using Zotero 2.0.1 and Firefox 3.5.8. I'm running Windows 7.

Any suggestions?
