Storage Folder seems suspiciously small

Hi all - kind of a strange question.

I use 'attach stored copy of file', saving my pdfs on my local machine. I saved my library onto a hard drive by locating the Zotero folder shown in the app's 'Files and Folders'. But it seems that the library is only just more than 1G, which I see also on my Web Library storage (I pay for 2G only), and includes suspiciously few folders and docs with those funny names... With over 500 items (not enormous) including several quite large ebooks, many of them scans of older books, it seems there's no way it could be that small. Could it?

  • Sure — individual PDFs and EPUBs can easily be less than 2 MB.

Unless you're using some plugin that creates linked files, any files you add to Zotero are stored in the 'storage' folder.

No need for it to be a mystery, though — just do a search of the 'storage' folder using your OS for all .pdf/.epub/.html files, and you can see all the files and their sizes in a flat list.
