1573748156: After "leave library popup", group not left and can't access for 10 minutes

Short, Short version:
After leaving groups online, Zotero App can't sync and will not remove the libraries in the App

Detailed version:
[ ] Zotero app loads, and prompts me to remove the groups:
>> [Group not found] "You are no longer a member of the group "x". Would you like to remove it from this computer or keep it as a read only library?
[ ] I press "REMOVE GROUP" for each of the libraries.
[ ] Sync never completes in client
[ ] I can no longer access ANY library on Zotero...
[ ] "Loading items..." appears in main window and never changes
[ ] Clicking on ANY library will not show the items in the library
[ ] I have to either wait about 10 minutes for things to return or force close Zotero
[ ] If I wait 10 minutes or so, I'll get a "can't sync" error (not sure if OTHER libraries sync; worried about that...)
[ ] Red ! by "sync circles" in top right

Probably unrelated but including in case:

Our site had to transition 7 biggish? group libraries to a new email address/account due to departure of staff member.
New account was created, person copied all items from OLD groups to NEW groups with
NEW names (prefixed each group library with "L-(old name)" to be sure to prevent collisions/confusion

I removed the six old groups online.
The online Zotero library appears correct.
But anytime Zotero APP tries to sync, I get the behavior above.
