Curiosities about the Zotero DB file

Hello, just read a bit about the whole business of the DB file on zotero.org, but had 2 questions left unanswered:
1. Is the DB file more or less human-readble? What I mean by this is, for the use case I'm imagining, if I was ever to get a corrupt database, if I had written a really long note with say 10,000 words or so, would I be able to see that *somewhere inside* the file? For example, my first guess would be to search for a key term that I remember writing inside that text, to at least recover the text (I've been doing a lot of writing inside individual notes in Zotero, but usually move them to a dedicated writing app when they get very long to make sure I don't lose the data).
2. Why do I get .realm files on the iOS app when I use the "export database file" function? Doesn't Zotero use .sqlite? (I've been thinking of moving data (manually, without sync or webDAV) I have on iOS to Raspbian, so I was just wondering)
