NS_ERROR_NET_RESET on scholar.google when retreiving citation dataset

xubuntu 22.04
Firefox 115.12esr
Zotero 6.0.35
Zotero Connector 5.0.140

In a growing number of cases zotero fails to retreive plain citations from scholar.google.com.

The problem could not be solved by changing the google language, using a private tab or plain firefox-profile, fresh installation of previous firefox release or changing to another desktop system.

Debugging of the add-on seams to reveal that there is an error condition "NS_ERROR_NET_RESET" causing "0 bytes transferred" while trying to retrieve the page containing the relevant dataset, f.e.:

https://scholar.googleusercontent.com/scholar.bib?q=info:keHzd6GSSuEJ:scholar.google.com/&output=citation&scisdr=ClHudoE7EObDwz1uu6U:AFWwaeYAAAAAZoloo6WQAMtgBtK92Ul7uDCFRLU&scisig=AFWwaeYAAAAAZoloo2TqzGFj4imEoXlJL4VUArc&scisf=4&ct=citation&cd=-1&hl=en

It is however possible to load this page in manually by pasting the url

I am using zotero for some years now without any issues. Any idea what to do? Thanks so much.
  • PS: Changing proxy-setting does not show effect either: Default is "no proxy" but using proxy in university network shows the same result.

For Google Scholar, likely just site access limits. You're trying to save too many items at once and are being blocked by Google.
  • OK, thanks for that hint. In this case the workaround is to save as bibTeX and import it to zotero...

I dont't know where this limit is and if it only applies to capturing via browser plugin but I was not saving more than two dozen datasets in a week and probably less than 200 in a year ... I'm also wondering how google's tracing is done. Using a proxy or VPN should help when not logged in to google... Anyhow: Thanks! I will keep an eye on it.

    Best,
