Citavi import: missing fields

edited June 17, 2024
Hello everyone,

I am moving from Citavi to Zotero. I am aware that some data aspects cannot be (yet/directly) transferred, such as the annotated "links to"/"links from" or attachment-links to local folders - what are your experiences/solutions bypassing said problems?

Then there are a few data aspects that would be great to have in a future version of the importer:
- It seems that Citavi-items of the type "Contribution in… Conference Proceedings" are imported as Zotero-items of the type "Book Section" instead of "Conference Paper", and therefore, some venue-specific fields are not imported (e.g. "Conference Name" or "Event Place" ).
- Data from "Private Collection"-locations in Citavi are threefold: "Location", "Call number", "Notes". But currently, only "Call number" is imported in Zotero.
- Attachments ("Local files") in Citavi may contain a note, similarly as in Zotero, but this note is not imported.
- The "Language"-field is not imported.
- It might be conventient to import the "old" Citavi-BibTex keys into an Extra-field in Zotero.
- Citavi-"Year" is imported as "YYYY-01-01T00:00:00" to Zotero-"Date". Wouldn't it be cleaner to import it just as "YYYY"?

Thank you very much and best regards!
  • Hello,

I have noticed that also name fields aren't imported, such as prefix (van, von, de, ...) or suffix (Jr., Sr., III, ...). Can you fix this?

    Thanks a lot!
