Vancouver superscript in text citation

I am trying to change the citation style on a document for a different journal submission. I am in Google Docs and used document preferences to change the style to Vancouver. It did change the APA style to the numerical style of Vancouver but it did not superscript the in text citations. How can I resolve this issue?
