Hello, Does anyone happen to know if Regex searches work differently with Chinese (CJK) characters? (hold off answering this--I might have found the answer and will edit later)

They are available for attachment content in advanced search (have been for a very long time)

A simple query like this one seems to work fine for CJK characters:
PHRASE1.{0,10}PHRASE2|PHRASE2.{0,10}PHRASE1
This will find two phrases within ten words of each other, no matter in which order.
