iOS -- Autocorrect, Apple pencil, foreign words
I would very much like to turn off, or modify, the autocorrect feature in making notes with the Apple pencil. I find that Zotero performs very well in recognizing my handwriting. The problem is that my notes will contain many foreign words which are not understood by Zotero and are then *brutally* autocorrected. Names in Greek, Arabic, Swahili, etc, which I write in our standard alphabet, are rendered correctly and then "corrected" by the system. This is very bad and undesirable. I have decades of experience with MS systems but I'm a newbie to iOS. Can I turn this off somehow?

mvasilakedited June 1, 2024Hey @DamonRondeau, unfortunately this is part of the iOS system. You can change to another supported language (check here https://www.apple.com/ios/feature-availability/#apple-pencil-scribble for the list), but you cannot turn off autocorrect for scribble. However, if the system autocorrects a word, you can see that it gets a blue dashed underline. You can then tap on the word, and select your original text, or another of the suggested corrections. I hope this helps.
